USB Type-C recording supported devices for ClonerAlliance UHD Halo¶
ClonerAlliance UHD Halo’s USB Type-C port supports video input from devices with DP (DisplayPort) Alt Mode capability, enabling direct recording from a wide range of modern mobile devices and computers.
Key Requirement¶
Warning
The connected device MUST support DP Alt Mode (DisplayPort Alternate Mode) over USB Type-C for video output. Not all USB Type-C ports support video transmission.

How to Check DP Alt Mode Support¶
For Smartphones/Tablets:
Check manufacturer specifications for “DP Alt Mode” or “Desktop Mode” or “Video Output”
Some Android phones call it “Samsung DeX” or “Desktop Mode”
Test with a USB-C to HDMI adapter
For Laptops/PCs:
Look for Thunderbolt 3/4 symbol (always supports DP)
Check USB-C port specifications (look for DP icon)
Consult device manual or manufacturer website
Recording Capabilities¶
When recording from USB Type-C devices:
Maximum Resolution: Up to 4K@60fps (device dependent)
Common Resolutions: - Smartphones: Typically 1080p@60fps or 4K@30fps - Laptops: Usually 4K@60fps or 1080p@60fps - Tablets: Varies by model (1080p to 4K)
Audio: Device audio is captured along with video
Charging: Simultaneously charge device with up to 65W PD
