How to bind RecDual Dongle to App?¶
After activating RecDual Link, you need to bind your device to establish a management link. This process authorizes the app to access your RecDual Dongle’s storage.
Prerequisites¶
Before binding, make sure:
RecDual Link App is activated (see How to activate RecDual Link App?)
Your RecDual Dongle is connected to your phone/computer via USB-C cable
RecDual Dongle is not recording (stop any active recording first)
Important
Use a USB-C cable that supports data transfer, not just charging.
Binding Process¶
Step 1: Connect Your Device
Insert a TF card into your RecDual Dongle.
Connect the RecDual Dongle to your phone or computer using a USB-C cable.
Stop recording if the device is currently recording.
The device will be recognized as external storage.
Step 2: Start Binding
Open RecDual Link App.
You’ll see a “Bind Device” prompt at the top of the home screen.
Tap the Bind Device button to start the binding process.
Step 3: Select Storage Path
A system file picker will appear. You have two options:
Option A: Root Directory Binding (Recommended)
Select the Root Directory of your RecDual Dongle’s storage.
This unlocks all features including: - Configuration management - Video streaming playback - One-click firmware upgrade
Option B: Limited Mode (Compatibility Option)
If your device cannot access the root directory, select the Videos folder instead.
This enters Limited Mode with restricted features: - Video playback and download: Yes - Configuration management: Yes - Firmware upgrade: No (not available)
Note
Some Android devices (like certain Google Pixel models) may not allow root directory access. In this case, use Limited Mode or try the Windows version of the app for full functionality.
Step 4: Confirm Authorization
After selecting the folder, tap Use this folder or Allow to confirm.
The app will verify the binding.
You’ll be redirected to the Dashboard upon successful binding.
Android-Specific Steps¶
When the file picker appears, navigate to your RecDual Dongle’s storage.
For root access: Select the drive directly, don’t enter any subfolders.
Tap Use this folder at the bottom.
Confirm access by tapping Allow.
Tip
On Android, make sure OTG (On-The-Go) is enabled in your device settings. If you don’t see the RecDual Dongle in the file picker, check that OTG is turned on.
Windows-Specific Steps¶
Windows usually assigns a drive letter (e.g., E:, F:) to your RecDual Dongle.
The app will automatically detect connected storage devices.
Select the correct drive from the list.
Binding completes automatically.
Verifying Successful Binding¶
After binding, you should see:
Dashboard with device information
Connection status: Green indicator showing “Connected”
Storage capacity: TF card space and remaining recording time
Authorization status: Current licensing status
Unbinding Your Device¶
If you need to unbind:
Go to the Dashboard.
Tap the settings icon or “Unbind Device” option.
Confirm the unbind operation.
Note
Unbinding only removes the local binding relationship. Your cloud authorization remains intact.
