How to update firmware with RecDual Link App?¶
Keeping your RecDual Dongle firmware up to date ensures you have the latest features, improvements, and bug fixes. RecDual Link App makes firmware updates easy with one-click upgrading.
Prerequisites¶
Before updating firmware:
RecDual Link App is activated and bound with root directory access
RecDual Dongle is connected and not recording
Stable internet connection for downloading firmware
Sufficient TF card space (at least 50MB free)
Important
Firmware upgrade requires root directory access. If you’re in Limited Mode (Videos folder only), you cannot perform firmware updates through the app. Use the Windows version of the app or update manually.
Checking for Updates¶
Automatic Detection
The app automatically checks for firmware updates every 24 hours.
When an update is available, you’ll see a red dot notification on the Firmware icon.
Manual Check
Open RecDual Link App.
Go to the Dashboard.
Tap Firmware Upgrade or the firmware icon.
The app will check for available updates.
Firmware Update Process¶
Step 1: Start Update
When an update is available, tap Update Now or Download & Install.
Review the update information (version number, release notes).
Confirm you want to proceed.
Step 2: Download
The app downloads the firmware file from the server.
Progress bar shows download status.
Wait for download to complete (usually 1-2 minutes depending on internet speed).
Step 3: Install
After download, the firmware is automatically written to your RecDual Dongle.
Do not disconnect the device during this process.
Wait for the “Installation Complete” message.
Step 4: Restart Device
You’ll see a prompt: “Please restart your device”.
Disconnect the RecDual Dongle from your phone/computer.
Power cycle the device: - For Type-C DP: Reconnect to your source device - For HDMI: Disconnect and reconnect the power cable
The device will boot with the new firmware.
Step 5: Verify
Reconnect to RecDual Link App.
Go to Dashboard > Device Info or Settings > About.
Confirm the firmware version matches the update.
What Gets Updated¶
Firmware updates may include:
Bug fixes: Resolve known issues
Performance improvements: Better recording stability
New features: Additional functionality
Compatibility: Support for more devices
Update Safety¶
Built-in safety measures protect your device:
Integrity check: Firmware file is verified before installation
Rollback protection: Prevents corrupted firmware from being installed
Automatic retry: If download fails, you can retry without issues
Note
Your device settings and recorded videos are not affected by firmware updates. All recordings on the TF card remain intact.
Troubleshooting Update Issues¶
Update button not available?
Ensure you have root directory access (not Limited Mode)
Check your internet connection
Restart the app and try again
Download failed?
Check your internet connection
Free up space if storage is low
Try again later if server is busy
Installation failed?
Ensure device is not recording
Do not disconnect during installation
Restart the app and device, then retry
