How to Use HDMI Passthrough with RecDual Dongle?¶
RecDual Dongle features HDMI passthrough that allows you to view content in full quality on a TV or monitor while recording.
What is HDMI Passthrough?¶
HDMI passthrough sends the video signal from your source device through RecDual Dongle to a display:
Input: Up to 4K@60fps from source
Output: Up to 4K@60fps to display
Latency: Zero (real-time)
Recording: 1080p@60fps to TF card
This means you can:
Watch in full 4K quality while recording at 1080p
Play games without any delay
View content exactly as it would appear without RecDual Dongle
Setting Up Passthrough¶
What You Need:
RecDual Dongle
Two HDMI cables (one included)
Video source device
TV or monitor with HDMI input
Power adapter (for HDMI source recording)
Connection Steps:
Connect video source → HDMI IN on RecDual Dongle
Connect HDMI OUT on RecDual Dongle → TV/Monitor
Connect power adapter → Type-C PWR
Insert formatted TF card
Power on all devices
Verification:
Your TV should display the video from your source
SWITCH LED should be solid green (HDMI signal detected)
REC LED should be solid green (TF card ready)

Important Notes¶
Passthrough Works Without Recording:
You can use passthrough without starting a recording
Useful for general use when you might want to record later
Passthrough Works Without TF Card:
Video passes through even without a TF card
Recording requires TF card
Audio Passthrough:
Audio is passed through to the connected display
The display’s speakers will work normally
Audio is also recorded if recording is active
Troubleshooting¶
No Picture on TV:
Check HDMI cable connections
Ensure source device is outputting video
Try a different HDMI cable
Verify TV is on correct HDMI input
Picture Quality Issues:
Check source device output settings
Ensure HDMI cables support required bandwidth (for 4K)
Some older cables may not support 4K@60fps
No Audio on TV:
Check TV audio settings
Verify source device audio output
Ensure HDMI cable supports audio
