How to Record HDMI Sources with RecDual Dongle?¶
This guide explains how to record video from HDMI sources such as gaming consoles, Blu-ray players, cameras, and set-top boxes.
Requirements¶
RecDual Dongle
HDMI cable (included)
TF card (formatted as exFAT)
Power adapter (required for HDMI recording)

Step-by-Step Recording¶
Step 1: Prepare the TF Card
Format your TF card as exFAT on a computer
Insert the TF card into the RecDual Dongle
Verify the REC LED turns solid green
Step 2: Connect HDMI Source
Use the HDMI cable to connect your source device to HDMI IN
Ensure your source device is powered on and outputting video
Step 3: Connect Power
Important
External power is required for HDMI recording.
Connect a power adapter to the Type-C PWR port
Use the included Type-C cable or a USB-C PD adapter
Step 4: Connect HDMI Output (Optional)
Connect a TV or monitor to HDMI OUT for real-time viewing
This passthrough supports up to 4K@60fps
Recording quality is 1080p regardless of passthrough resolution
Step 5: Select HDMI Source
Press the SWITCH button
Verify the SWITCH LED is green (HDMI mode)
If the LED is blinking green, check your HDMI connection
Step 6: Verify Signal
SWITCH LED solid green = HDMI signal detected
SWITCH LED blinking green = No signal, check connection
Step 7: Start Recording
Press the REC/STOP button
REC LED will change to blinking green
Recording is now in progress
Step 8: Stop Recording
Press the REC/STOP button again
REC LED returns to solid green
File is automatically saved to TF card

Tips for HDMI Recording¶
Optimal Power Supply
Use a reliable power adapter
A 10W (5V/2A) or higher adapter is recommended
Ensure stable power to avoid recording interruptions
For Gaming
Use HDMI passthrough to your TV for zero-latency gameplay
Recording at 1080p@60fps captures smooth gameplay
Game audio is automatically recorded
For Cameras
Set camera to HDMI output mode
Some cameras may need “clean HDMI” setting enabled
Check camera settings for HDMI output resolution
Troubleshooting¶
No Signal (LED blinking green):
Check HDMI cable connections
Ensure source device is outputting video
Try a different HDMI cable
Verify source device HDMI output settings
Recording Won’t Start:
Ensure TF card is inserted (REC LED should be green)
Check that power is connected
Verify TF card is formatted correctly
Recording Stops Unexpectedly:
Check power connection
Verify TF card has free space
Ensure HDMI signal is stable
