How to manage multiple devices?¶
RecDual Link App supports managing multiple devices - both multiple phones/computers running the app, and multiple RecDual Dongles. This guide explains how to manage your device ecosystem.
Understanding Device Limits¶
Per Serial Number (SN):
Each SN can be activated on up to 5 different terminal devices (phones/computers)
This means you can use RecDual Link on your phone, tablet, laptop, and desktop
All devices share the same SN authorization
Per App Installation:
Each phone/computer can bind to one RecDual Dongle at a time
To switch to a different dongle, unbind the current one first
Adding a New Terminal Device¶
If you have fewer than 5 authorized devices:
Install RecDual Link on the new device
Enter the same Serial Number (SN)
Complete cloud verification
New device is now authorized
Reaching the 5-Device Limit¶
When you try to add a 6th device:
Error Message:
“Maximum number of authorized devices reached. Please deactivate one device before adding a new one.”
Solution:
On any authorized device, open RecDual Link
Go to Settings > Device Management
Select a device you no longer use
Tap Deactivate or Remove Authorization
Confirm the action
Now activate on your new device
Managing Multiple RecDual Dongles¶
If you own multiple RecDual Dongle units:
Each Dongle Has Its Own SN:
RecDual Dongle A → SN: XXXXXXXXXA
RecDual Dongle B → SN: XXXXXXXXXXB
Using Multiple Dongles with One Phone:
Physically connect Dongle A
App uses Dongle A’s binding
To switch to Dongle B: - Unbind Dongle A (optional but recommended) - Disconnect Dongle A - Connect Dongle B - Bind Dongle B
Managing Multiple SNs:
You can activate multiple SNs on the same phone:
Activate SN for Dongle A
Bind Dongle A
Later, if using Dongle B with different SN: - Connect Dongle B - App may prompt to activate new SN - Enter SN for Dongle B - Bind Dongle B
Switching Between Dongles¶
Quick Switch Process:
Unbind current dongle (optional): - Dashboard > Unbind Device - Clears current binding
Disconnect physically: - Remove USB cable from current dongle
Connect new dongle: - Plug in the new RecDual Dongle
Bind new dongle: - App will prompt to bind - Complete binding process
Tip
If both dongles use the same SN, switching is seamless - just rebind. If they have different SNs, you may need to activate the new SN first.
Device Management Best Practices¶
For Individuals:
Activate on devices you use regularly
Deactivate old devices you no longer use
Keep at least one slot free for emergencies
For Families:
Share one SN across family members’ devices
Use Device Management to see who’s using the app
Coordinate before reaching the 5-device limit
For Content Creators:
Activate on main editing workstation
Add mobile device for on-the-go access
Keep slots available for equipment changes
Transferring to a New Phone¶
When getting a new phone:
On old phone (if accessible): - Deactivate authorization (frees a slot) - Or leave it (will auto-deactivate if unused)
On new phone: - Install RecDual Link - Enter your SN - Activate and bind
If old phone not accessible: - Use another authorized device to remotely deactivate old phone - Then activate on new phone
