How to Set Up RecDual Dongle for First-Time Use?¶
This guide walks you through the complete first-time setup process for your RecDual Dongle.
Before You Begin¶
Ensure you have:
RecDual Dongle and included cables
TF card (Micro SD), Class 10 or higher recommended
Video source device (gaming console, phone, laptop, etc.)
Power adapter (required for HDMI recording only)
Computer for formatting TF card (if not already formatted)
Step-by-Step Setup¶
Step 1: Unbox and Inspect
Open the package and verify all items are included:
RecDual Dongle main unit
HDMI cable
Type-C to Type-C cable
Type-C to USB-A cable

Step 2: Prepare the TF Card
Insert the TF card into a card reader connected to your computer
Format the card as exFAT file system (see How to Format TF Card for RecDual Dongle?)
Safely eject the card from your computer
Important
Always format the TF card on a computer. Do not format with a smartphone.
Step 3: Insert the TF Card
Locate the TF card slot on the RecDual Dongle
Insert the formatted TF card with contacts facing the correct direction
Push gently until the card clicks into place
Verify the REC LED turns solid green (card recognized)
Step 4: Connect Your Video Source
For HDMI Sources (Gaming consoles, Blu-ray players, etc.):
Connect your source device to the HDMI IN port using the HDMI cable
Connect a power adapter to the Type-C PWR port (required)
The SWITCH LED will light up green when HDMI signal is detected
For Type-C DP Sources (Smartphones, laptops with DP support):
Connect your device to the Type-C DP IN port using the Type-C cable
No external power is needed (device powers the RecDual Dongle)
The SWITCH LED will light up blue when DP signal is detected
Step 5: Connect HDMI Output (Optional)
Connect a TV or monitor to the HDMI OUT port
This allows you to view the content while recording
Passthrough supports up to 4K@60fps
Step 6: Select Video Source
Press the SWITCH button to toggle between HDMI (green) and DP (blue) sources
Ensure the LED matches your connected source
Step 7: Start Recording
Verify the REC LED is solid green (TF card ready)
Verify the SWITCH LED is solid (signal detected)
Press the REC/STOP button
The REC LED will start blinking green (recording in progress)
Step 8: Stop Recording
Press the REC/STOP button again
The REC LED returns to solid green
Recording is automatically saved to the TF card
Step 9: Access Your Recordings
You can access recorded files by:
Removing the TF card and reading it on a computer
Using the RecDual Link App while the device is connected
Setup Complete!¶
