How to Take a Snapshot

You can trigger a snapshot in two ways:

  • Press the SNAPSHOT button on the UHD Halo main unit.

  • Press the SNAPSHOT button on the remote control.

The snapshot is captured instantly from the current video frame being displayed on the passthrough output.

Snapshot File Details

  • File format: JPG

  • File naming: IMG_xxxx.jpg (auto-incremented index, e.g., IMG_0001.jpg, IMG_0002.jpg)

  • Resolution: Matches the current input video resolution (e.g., 3840×2160 for 4K input)

  • Save location: Saved to the same connected storage device used for video recording

During Recording vs. Standby

  • During recording: You can take snapshots while a recording is actively in progress. The snapshot is saved as a separate JPG file alongside the video file.

  • While not recording: You can also take snapshots when no recording is active, as long as a video source signal is detected and a storage device is connected.

Requirements

  • A storage device (USB or TF card) must be connected and recognized before taking a snapshot.

  • A video source must be connected and outputting a signal.

If no storage device is connected when you press the SNAPSHOT button, the snapshot will not be captured.

Use Cases

  • Game highlights — Capture memorable moments during gameplay.

  • Video frame extraction — Grab a specific frame from a live video feed.

  • Static image capture — Record a still image from any video source for reference or documentation.
