How to use ClonerAlliance UHD Halo with laptop via USB Type-C¶
The ClonerAlliance UHD Halo can capture and record a laptop’s screen content via a single USB Type-C cable, provided the laptop’s Type-C port supports DisplayPort output.
Prerequisites¶
The laptop must have a USB Type-C port that supports DisplayPort (DP) Alt Mode output.
Not all Type-C ports support video output — some are limited to charging or data transfer only. Check your laptop’s specifications to confirm DP output support.
Connection Steps¶
Connect the laptop to the UHD Halo using a USB Type-C to Type-C cable.
The top LED on the UHD Halo turns blue, confirming that a DisplayPort signal has been detected from the laptop.
The laptop screen content appears on the TV or monitor connected to the HDMI OUT port.
Insert a USB storage device or TF card and press REC to start recording.
Use Cases¶
Tutorial recording — Capture step-by-step software walkthroughs or presentations from your laptop screen.
Meeting recording — Record video calls or online meetings directly from the laptop output.
Laptop game recording — Record gameplay from laptop-based games in high quality.
Important Notes¶
If the top LED does not turn blue after connecting, the laptop’s Type-C port may not support DisplayPort output. Try a different port or check the laptop’s documentation.
Some laptops may require specific settings to enable DP output on the Type-C port (e.g., display output mode in BIOS or system settings).
The UHD Halo can record up to 4K@60fps, matching the laptop’s maximum supported DP output resolution.
