How to Charge Mobile Devices While Recording?¶
RecDual Dongle supports simultaneous recording and charging, allowing you to record for extended periods without draining your device battery.
Charging Specifications¶
Maximum Power: 66W PD (Power Delivery)
Protocol: USB PD 2.0/3.0
Port: Type-C PWR
How It Works¶
When recording from a Type-C DP device:
Your device connects to Type-C DP IN (for video)
A power adapter connects to Type-C PWR
Power flows through RecDual Dongle to your device
Your device records and charges simultaneously

Extended Recording Time:
Record for hours without battery drain
Ideal for long gaming sessions
Perfect for all-day events
No Interruptions:
No need to stop recording to charge
Continuous capture without breaks
Battery Health:
Maintains battery level during heavy use
Prevents deep discharge cycles
Compatible Power Adapters¶
Recommended:
USB-C PD adapters (45W, 65W, or higher)
Apple USB-C power adapters
Samsung PD fast chargers
Anker PowerPort PD series
Requirements:
Must support USB PD protocol
Higher wattage (65W+) recommended for fastest charging
NOT Compatible:
QC (Quick Charge) only adapters
Standard USB-A adapters
Non-PD USB-C adapters
Important Notes¶
PD Protocol Required:
Warning
The Type-C PWR port only supports PD (Power Delivery) protocol.
Devices or adapters using only QC (Quick Charge) protocol may not work for charging.
Device Compatibility:
iPhones (15 and newer) - PD compatible
Most Samsung Galaxy devices - PD compatible
Some budget phones may only support QC - verify your device
Charging Speed:
Actual charging speed depends on your device’s maximum supported rate
RecDual Dongle passes through up to 66W
Your device will charge at its maximum supported rate
Troubleshooting¶
Device Not Charging:
Verify power adapter supports PD protocol
Try a different PD adapter
Check cable connections
Ensure adapter provides sufficient wattage
Charging Slowly:
Use a higher wattage adapter
Some devices limit charging while in use
Check for background processes consuming power
Device Gets Warm:
Normal during simultaneous recording and charging
Ensure adequate ventilation
Consider a case that allows heat dissipation
Tips¶
Use quality cables: Poor cables can limit charging speed
Match adapter to device: Use adapter recommended for your device
Monitor temperature: Extended use may warm your device
Keep firmware updated: Updates may improve power management
Charging with HDMI Recording¶
When recording HDMI sources:
The Type-C PWR port powers the RecDual Dongle only
There is no device to charge (HDMI sources have separate power)
Power adapter is still required for HDMI recording
