This guide covers RecDual Dongle’s video recording capabilities, output quality, and technical specifications.

HDMI Passthrough¶
While recording at 1080p, RecDual Dongle supports high-quality passthrough:
Passthrough Resolution: Up to 4K (3840×2160)
Passthrough Frame Rate: Up to 60fps
Latency: Zero latency (real-time)
This means you can:
Play games on a 4K TV while recording at 1080p
Watch content in full quality while capturing a 1080p copy
No impact on viewing experience during recording
File Output¶
File Format
Recordings are saved as MP4 files with:
Video track: H.264 encoded at up to 1080p@60fps
Audio track: AAC encoded at 48kHz, 192Kbps stereo
File Naming
Files are automatically named with timestamps for easy organization.

Quality Considerations¶
What RecDual Dongle Supports:
High-quality 1080p recording

Standard dynamic range (SDR) content
What RecDual Dongle Does NOT Support:
4K recording (passthrough only)
HDR recording (HDR input is converted to SDR)
Higher than 60fps recording
10-bit or 12-bit color depth
Compatibility with Editing Software¶
RecDual Dongle’s MP4 output is compatible with virtually all video editing software:
Windows: Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Filmora
Mac: Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Adobe Premiere Pro
Mobile: Many video editing apps support MP4
Online: YouTube, Vimeo direct upload support
No transcoding is typically needed for editing or sharing.
Tips for Best Quality¶
Use a High-Quality TF Card: Class 10 or U3/V30 cards ensure smooth recording
Ensure Stable Connection: Loose cables can cause recording interruptions
Adequate Power: For HDMI recording, use a reliable power adapter
Check Source Quality: Recording quality cannot exceed source quality
Monitor Storage Space: Keep enough free space to avoid interrupted recordings
