Why Display Mirroring Matters

Without mirroring (Extended display):

  • RecDual Dongle records the extended desktop

  • This is typically a blank or secondary screen

  • Not what you want to capture

With mirroring (Duplicate display):

  • RecDual Dongle records your main screen

  • Captures everything you see

  • Correct setup for screen recording

Troubleshooting

No signal (SWITCH LED blinking blue):

  1. Verify laptop Type-C port supports DP/Thunderbolt

  2. Try a different Type-C port on laptop

  3. Try a different cable

  4. Check laptop display settings

Recording shows blank screen:

  • Display mirroring not enabled

  • Enable “Duplicate displays” in settings

Laptop doesn’t recognize RecDual Dongle:

  • Port may not support DisplayPort

  • Try HDMI connection if laptop has HDMI output

Alternative: HDMI Connection

If your laptop has an HDMI port:

  1. Connect laptop HDMI → RecDual Dongle HDMI IN

  2. Connect power adapter to Type-C PWR

  3. Select HDMI mode (green LED)

  4. No display mirroring configuration needed

  5. HDMI output mirrors by default on most laptops

Tips

  1. Check port capability first - Verify DP support before purchase

  2. Test before important recordings - Ensure proper setup

  3. Disable notifications - Prevent on-screen popups

  4. Set high resolution - Use native resolution for best quality

  5. Prepare content - Have everything ready before recording
