How to Use AUX Input for Microphone Recording?

RecDual Dongle’s AUX port allows you to add voice commentary to your recordings using an external microphone.

AUX Port Specifications

  • Connector: 3.5mm TRRS (4-pole)

  • Function: Microphone input / Audio output

  • Compatibility: Standard 3.5mm headsets and microphones

What You Need

Compatible Microphones:

  • 3.5mm lavalier (clip-on) microphones

  • 3.5mm headsets with microphone

  • External microphones with 3.5mm output

Plug Type:

  • TRRS (4-pole) recommended

  • TRS (3-pole) may work for microphone-only devices

Setup Instructions

Step 1: Connect Microphone

  1. Plug your microphone into the AUX port

  2. Ensure firm connection

Step 2: Set Up Video Recording

  1. Connect your video source (HDMI or Type-C DP)

  2. Insert TF card

  3. Verify LED indicators

Step 3: Position Microphone

  • Place at appropriate distance from your mouth

  • Minimize background noise

  • Test position before recording

Step 4: Start Recording

  1. Press REC/STOP to begin

  2. Speak into microphone

  3. Audio is mixed with source audio

How Audio is Mixed

Automatic mixing:

  • Source audio (game, video, etc.) + Microphone audio

  • Combined into single audio track

  • No separate track control

  • Volume levels are automatic

In the recording:

  • Both audio sources play together

  • Cannot separate tracks later

  • Balance is hardware-determined
