What is the Maximum Recording Time?

RecDual Dongle has no built-in time limit for recording. The maximum recording time depends on your TF card capacity.

No Software Time Limit

  • RecDual Dongle does not impose a recording time limit

  • You can record continuously as long as storage is available

  • Recording stops only when TF card is full (or loop recording overwrites old files)

Recording Time by TF Card Capacity

Approximate recording times at 1080p@60fps:

TF Card Size

Recording Time

Notes

32GB

~2-4 hours

Short sessions

64GB

~5-7 hours

Daily use

128GB

~10-14 hours

Extended recording

256GB

~21-28 hours

Long-duration use

512GB

~42-56 hours

Maximum practical capacity

Times are approximate and vary based on video content complexity

Factors Affecting Recording Time

Content Complexity:

  • Fast-moving content (games, sports) = larger file sizes

  • Static content (presentations) = smaller file sizes

  • High-detail scenes use more storage than simple ones

Bitrate:

  • Recording bitrate affects file size

  • Higher quality = larger files = less recording time

Extending Recording Time

Use Larger TF Cards:

  • 128GB or larger recommended for long sessions

  • 256GB+ for all-day recording

Enable Loop Recording:

  • Automatically deletes oldest files when full

  • Enables continuous recording indefinitely

  • Configure in RecDual Link App

Manage Files Regularly:

  • Delete old recordings

  • Transfer files to computer

  • Keep TF card space available

Continuous Recording Considerations

For very long recording sessions:

  1. Use quality TF cards - Reliable U3/V30 cards

  2. Ensure stable power - For HDMI recording

  3. Monitor temperature - Device may warm during long use

  4. Adequate ventilation - Don’t cover the device

File Splitting

  • Long recordings may be split into multiple files

  • This is normal behavior for large recordings

  • Files play sequentially

With Loop Recording

Loop recording enabled:

  • Recording continues indefinitely

  • Oldest files deleted when full

  • Actual retention time depends on card size

Without loop recording:

  • Recording stops when card is full

  • REC LED turns solid blue

  • Must delete files to continue
