How to Connect RecDual Dongle to Your Devices?¶
This guide explains how to connect different types of devices to your RecDual Dongle for recording.
Basic Connection Overview¶
RecDual Dongle has two video input options:
HDMI IN: For devices with HDMI output (requires external power)
Type-C DP IN: For devices with DisplayPort over Type-C (no external power needed)
Connection Scenario 1: Gaming Console (HDMI)¶
Required Equipment:
RecDual Dongle
HDMI cable (included)
Power adapter with Type-C cable
TF card (formatted)
Connection Steps:
Insert formatted TF card into RecDual Dongle
Connect gaming console → HDMI IN (using HDMI cable)
Connect power adapter → Type-C PWR
(Optional) Connect HDMI OUT → TV/Monitor
Press SWITCH to select HDMI (green LED)
Press REC/STOP to start recording
Connection Scenario 2: Smartphone (Type-C DP)¶
Required Equipment:
RecDual Dongle
Type-C to Type-C cable (included)
TF card (formatted)
Connection Steps:
Insert formatted TF card into RecDual Dongle first
Connect smartphone → Type-C DP IN (using Type-C cable)
Phone will recognize RecDual Dongle as external display
Press SWITCH to select DP (blue LED)
Press REC/STOP to start recording
Important
Always insert the TF card before connecting your phone. If you connect the phone first and then insert the TF card, your phone may prompt to format the card, which could cause issues.
Connection Scenario 3: Laptop/MacBook (Type-C DP)¶
Required Equipment:
RecDual Dongle
Type-C to Type-C cable (included)
TF card (formatted)
Connection Steps:
Insert formatted TF card into RecDual Dongle
Connect laptop → Type-C DP IN
Configure display mirroring on your laptop:
Windows: Display Settings → Duplicate these displays
Mac: System Preferences → Displays → Mirror Displays
Press SWITCH to select DP (blue LED)
Press REC/STOP to start recording
Connection Scenario 4: With Simultaneous Charging¶
When recording from a Type-C device, you can charge it simultaneously:
Set up Type-C DP connection as above
Connect PD power adapter → Type-C PWR
Your device will receive up to 66W PD charging while recording
Note
The PWR port only supports PD (Power Delivery) protocol. Devices using only QC (Quick Charge) may not charge through this port.
Connection Scenario 5: Complete Setup with HDMI Passthrough¶
For the most comprehensive setup:
Insert TF card
Connect video source → appropriate input port
Connect power if using HDMI
Connect HDMI OUT → TV/Monitor for real-time viewing
Connect AUX → headphones for audio monitoring (optional)
Select source and start recording
