Why does App show “device not bound”?

If RecDual Link App shows “device not bound” or similar message, this means the app hasn’t established a management link with your RecDual Dongle. Here’s how to resolve it.

Why This Happens

The “device not bound” message appears because:

  1. First-time use: You haven’t completed the binding process yet

  2. Binding was reset: App data was cleared or binding permissions were revoked

  3. Different device: Connecting a different RecDual Dongle than previously bound

  4. UUID file deleted: The device identification file was removed from TF card

Understanding Device Binding

Binding creates a persistent link between:

  • The RecDual Link App on your phone/computer

  • Your specific RecDual Dongle (identified by UUID)

  • The authorized storage path

This link enables the app to:

  • Access configuration files

  • Play back recorded videos

  • Update device firmware

  • Manage device settings

How to Bind Your Device

Step 1: Ensure Prerequisites

  • RecDual Link is activated (not in Guest Mode)

  • RecDual Dongle is connected via USB

  • Device is not recording (stop recording first)

  • TF card is inserted in the device

Step 2: Start Binding

  1. Open RecDual Link App

  2. Tap the “Bind Device” button on the home screen

  3. A system file picker will appear

Step 3: Select Storage Path

  • Recommended: Select the root directory of RecDual Dongle storage

  • Alternative: If root access isn’t available, select the Videos folder

Step 4: Confirm Authorization

  1. Tap “Use this folder” or “Allow

  2. Wait for verification

  3. You’ll be taken to the Dashboard

Troubleshooting Binding Issues

File picker doesn’t show RecDual Dongle

Binding fails after selecting folder

  • Make sure you selected the correct device/drive

  • Ensure device is not recording

  • Try selecting root directory instead of subfolder

  • Restart the app and try again

Bound but shows “not bound” again

  • Storage permissions may have been revoked

  • TF card may have been changed

  • App cache may be corrupted

Solution:

  1. Go to app Settings > Reset Binding Permissions

  2. Rebind the device

  3. If issue persists, clear app cache and re-activate

Re-binding After Issues

If you need to re-establish binding:

Method 1: Reset Binding Permissions

  1. Open RecDual Link App

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Tap Reset Binding Permissions

  4. Follow the binding process again

Method 2: Unbind and Rebind

  1. If you can access Dashboard, tap Unbind Device

  2. Confirm the unbind

  3. Start fresh binding process

Method 3: Clear App Data (Last Resort)

Warning

This will clear all app settings including activation. You’ll need to re-activate with your SN.

Android:

  1. Settings > Apps > RecDual Link

  2. Storage > Clear Data

  3. Reopen app and start fresh

UUID File Explanation

When you bind a device, the app creates a small identification file on the TF card. If this file is deleted:

  • App may not recognize the previously bound device

  • You’ll need to rebind

To avoid this:

  • Don’t delete unknown files from TF card root

  • Don’t format TF card unnecessarily

  • Keep the TF card inserted in the same RecDual Dongle
