How to record 4K@120fps sources with ClonerAlliance UHD Halo¶
The ClonerAlliance UHD Halo does not support 4K@120fps input directly. The maximum supported input resolution is 4K@60fps. This article explains what happens when a 4K@120fps source is connected and how to handle it.
What Happens When a 4K@120fps Source Is Connected¶
There are two possible scenarios depending on the source device:
Source forces 4K@120fps output — The UHD Halo will display “No Signal” because it cannot accept a 4K@120fps input signal. In this case, you must manually change the output settings on the source device.
Source supports adaptive output — The source device will automatically negotiate the output resolution down to 4K@60fps, which the UHD Halo can accept. Recording will proceed normally at 4K@60fps.
How to Resolve “No Signal”¶
Disconnect the source device from the UHD Halo.
On the source device, go to its display or video output settings.
Change the output resolution to 4K@60fps or lower.
Reconnect the source device to the UHD Halo.
The top LED should turn blue, confirming signal detection.
Important Notes¶
4K@120fps requires HDMI 2.1 — Devices that output 4K@120fps typically use HDMI 2.1, which is not supported by the UHD Halo’s HDMI IN port.
Avoid setting the source device to a forced output mode that locks the resolution at 4K@120fps. Use an adaptive or automatic output mode instead.
The UHD Halo can record up to 4K@60fps, which is suitable for the vast majority of gaming and content creation use cases.
