Why does the recorded file split into segments on ClonerAlliance UHD Halo

If your recordings are being split into multiple files, this is expected behavior based on the file size or duration settings configured in the OSD menu.

Causes of File Splitting

  1. File Size setting — The OSD File Size option defines the maximum size of a single recorded file. When a file reaches this limit, the UHD Halo automatically starts a new segment.

  2. File system limit — FAT32 file systems have a maximum file size of 4 GB. If your storage device is formatted as FAT32, files will automatically split at the 4 GB boundary regardless of the File Size setting.

How to Configure the File Size Setting

Navigate to MenuRecord SettingsFile Size to select one of the following options:

Loop Recording

When Loop Recording is enabled, the UHD Halo will overwrite the oldest recorded segments when the storage device is full, allowing continuous recording without manual intervention.

Recommendations

  • Use a storage device formatted as exFAT or NTFS and set the File Size to Unlimited to minimize file splitting.

  • If you need to split files for easier management, select a size that suits your workflow.

  • Segmented files must be played or edited individually, or merged using video editing software on a PC.
